The manuals epitomize the undecided nature of the machine: it is somewhat inadequate for serious use but a trifle expensive for a toy. I looked at several of the software offerings that IBM is currently selling for the PCjr and, in general, was not terribly impressed. A few random samplings of these packages are described below.

The machine is configured to run at 4.77Mhz, so the ROM BIOS memory test has been disabled, since a PC with 256Kb was rather slow to boot.
